7 deaths due to heat stroke across the country, 5 hospitalized

A severe heat wave is blowing across the country. Incidents like heat stroke are happening in different parts of the country due to unbearable heat. Seven people have died of heat stroke across the country so far, the health department said. One of them died today (Sunday). At the same time, it has been reported that five patients have been admitted due to heat stroke in different hospitals of the country.

On Sunday (April 28), a reliable source in the control room of the Department of Health revealed this information.

An official of the Department of Health said, “Today (Sunday) we have confirmed that one person has died of heat stroke from across the country.” The deceased died while staying at his residence in Gundum area of Bandarban district. Besides, I have received reports that another person has suffered a heat stroke. The person is undergoing treatment at Titas Upazila Hospital in Comilla.

He said, including today’s one, we have confirmed the death of a total of seven people across the country due to heat stroke.

He also said about the reports in the media about death due to heat stroke, most of the reports about people dying due to heat stroke are wrong. As soon as a news item comes out, we talk to the Civil Surgeon and try to take a detailed history. Overall, the over-reported number of heat stroke deaths is largely false. Because, during this time people also die of stroke and heart attack.

Meanwhile, on Sunday (April 28), the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said that the country’s temperature will start decreasing after the next three days. During the next five days, the trend of rainfall will increase across the country and the temperature will start to drop as rainfall increases.

According to the next 72-hour forecast given by Directorate Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque, two places in Chittagong and Sylhet divisions may experience temporary gusty/gusty winds with rain/thunder. Along with that, hailstones may rain sporadically at some places. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky.
