Unanimous Council Decision
The council voted unanimously to protect the Spanish Colonial-style house, where Monroe lived and died. This decision was supported by the City Council’s land use management subcommittee and the city’s cultural heritage commission.

Public Support and Opposition
Council member Traci Park emphasized the cultural significance of Monroe’s home, noting its association with one of the most iconic figures in Los Angeles. However, the homeowners, Brinah Milstein and Roy Bank, opposed the designation, citing concerns about increased visitor traffic and disputing the historical significance.

The homeowners’ legal attempts to block the designation were denied, and a lawsuit against the city is pending. While some local organizations supported relocating the house, preservationists and fans celebrated the decision as a victory for Hollywood history.
