The heavy rains and the rising water levels of rivers, canals and reservoirs have raised the risk of serious flooding in four cities in Japan. To ensure the safety of the general public, 45 thousand people have been evacuated from these cities by members of the Japanese police and disaster management agency.
In a report citing government officials, AFP said 18,000 people were ordered to be evacuated from the city of Wajima, 12,000 from the city of Suzu and 16,000 from the cities of Niigata and Yamagata — a total of 46,000 people. All these people live in relatively low-lying areas. These areas are more likely to be submerged first when a flood starts.

For the past few days, moderate to heavy rains have been lashing various parts of Japan. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) has already issued heavy rain warnings in some areas.
In a report, Japan’s state television channel NHK said that the water in 12 rivers in the country has risen to dangerous levels due to the rains of the past few days. Flooding has already started in several of these riverside areas.

Flood water has also started entering Wajima city. His video footage aired on NHK.
The overflowing of three rivers in Ishikawa district has already flooded parts of Niigata and Yamagata cities. In addition, landslides have also occurred in some areas.

On August 8, an earthquake of magnitude 7.5 struck Japan. 161 people were killed. The flood started in the country before the effects of that disaster ended.
