Police to be more vigilant during Eid holidays : IGP

TPW Desk:  Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has instructed the police officers at the field level to be extremely vigilant in order to make the travel of the people at home safe and comfortable during Eid. Apart from this, he also said that after Eid, there will be strict security measures on Pahela Baisakh.

He gave these instructions while presiding over the overall law and order, security and traffic management meeting on the occasion of the upcoming Holy Eid-ul-Fitr and Bengali New Year celebrations at the Police Headquarters Hall of Pride on Tuesday morning.

In the meeting, the IGP said that the traffic of Nasiman-Kariman-Bhatavti etc. on the highway will be stopped. In order to ensure safe travel of passengers, no vehicle without fitness will be allowed to ply. He also directed the senior police officials to take effective measures to ensure smooth movement of vehicles on the highway through personal supervision from the field at all times.

Additional IGP (Administration) Kamrul Ahsan, Additional IGP of Special Branch Monirul Islam along with other additional IGPs, heads of various units of Dhaka police including heads of specialized units, commissioners of metropolitan police and range DIGs were present. Apart from this, Superintendents of Police of all districts were involved in the meeting through online at the meeting.

In the meeting, the overall law and order situation, industrial factories, garment industry, traffic management etc. were discussed in detail in view of Eid-ul-Fitr and Paila Baisakh.

The IGP directed the police officials to ensure safe travel of passengers by road, rail and water.

The Chief of Police said that the Industrial Police should take necessary measures immediately so that no unpleasant situation is created regarding the payment of salaries to the workers of the garment industry.

He gave instructions to increase the police surveillance to ensure the security of the houses, markets, financial institutions and other establishments of people leaving the city during Eid.

The IGP also directed the police officials to ensure the security of important Eid congregations in the country.
