There is no alternative to modernization of agriculture to advance the country

Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. Tajul Islam said that the main driving force of the economy of Bangladesh is agriculture. There is no alternative but modernization of agriculture to advance the country. There is still room for improvement in the agricultural sector of our country, especially in farm mechanization.

He said these things while addressing the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the 12th International Agricultural Technology Fair at Bashundhara International Convention City in the capital today (Thursday).

The fair is being held under the joint initiative of Rural Development Academy, Bogra and Limra Exhibitions.

On the occasion, the local government minister said that it is essential to change the traditional agricultural technology along with the mechanization of the farm and the coordination of advanced technology and craftsmanship. Agriculture and industry are the two most important sectors for the country’s economy. If modern technology is used in these two sectors, the service sector will develop in the country.

He said that this technology fair will enrich the agricultural sector with the participation of government organizations as well as private organizations for the development of agriculture and farmers in Bangladesh.

Senior Secretary of Rural Development and Cooperative Department Mosammat Hamida Begum presided over the event. State Minister of Local Government Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry was present as a special guest. Abdul Wadud, Director General of Rural Development Academy Bogra. Khurshid Iqbal Rezvi and Limra Chairman Kazi Charwar Uddin.
