Desk Report:  Like last year, this year’s Eid journey is also becoming comfortable. There is heavy traffic on the road. However, Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader commented that there is no traffic jam.

He said this at the opening ceremony of a railway overpass, seven overpasses and 2 bridges constructed under the ‘Sasec Road Link Project-2 (Elenga-Hatikumrul-Rangpur Highway)’ in the meeting room of the Ministry at the Secretariat today.

Obaidul Quader expressed the hope that this year’s Eid journey will be comfortable and said that from today, 1 rail overpass with a length of 550 meters, 2 bridges – Datia Bridge with a length of 56 meters in Sirajganj and Fatki Bridge with a length of 32 meters, besides a 39 meters long Mulibari Overpass with a length of 39 meters in Sirajganj, will be opened at Tinmatha Railgate in Bogura. Panchila overpass with a length of 39 meters and 35 meter long Dantpur overpass, 158 meter long B-Block Cantonment overpass and 178 meter long Fultala overpass in Bogura, 30 meter long Dhaperhat overpass in Rangpur and 8 meter long Mirzapur overpass were also opened for traffic.

On this day, the Minister inaugurated the Meghna Bridge Toll Plaza-II along with the launch of electronic toll collection-ETC program in all lanes of the Dhaka-Chittagong National Highway toll plaza.

Obaidul Quader also said that opening 1 railway overpass, 7 overpasses and 2 bridges for traffic is Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Eid gift to the countrymen ahead of Eid.
