Another person died in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck at Kashiani in Gopalganj. A total of six people including mother and daughter were killed. 10 more people were injured in this incident.
The accident took place on Sunday (01 September) around 8:30 in the morning at Majhigati area of ​​Kashiani upazila on the Dhaka-Khulna highway.
Kashiani Fire Service Station Master Rezaul Mawla and Kashiani Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Salim Mia confirmed the matter.
Five of the six victims have been named so far. They are Samad Ali (40), Sakibur Rahman (35), Raheez Sheikh (24), Tania Afroz (28) and her mother Tahura Begum (55). Besides, the identity of the other deceased has not yet been found. All the dead were passengers of the bus.

An eyewitness said that he rushed to the spot after hearing a loud noise in the morning and saw a collision between a bus and a truck of Imad Paribahan. I went and saw that one side of the bus was twisted. All the five passengers in the five seats on the right were killed on the spot. Many of the remaining passengers are suffering from serious injuries. After informing the police and fire service, they came and rescued the injured with the help of locals.
Station Master of Kashiani Fire Service Rezaul Mawla said that at around 7:45 in the morning, a truck heading in the opposite direction collided with Dhaka-bound Imad Paribahan in Majhigati area of ​​Kashiani Upazila on the Dhaka-Khulna highway. At this time, the bus was twisted. Five people including a woman were killed. Another person died later.

On receiving information from locals, police and fire service personnel reached the spot and recovered the bodies of the deceased including women. Besides, 10 people were rescued with serious injuries. They have been sent to different hospitals for treatment. The dead bodies have been sent to the morgue for autopsy.

Kashiani police station sub-inspector Salim Mia said, “We have so far been able to identify the names of five of the six victims.” The bodies have been sent to the morgue for post-mortem.
