Several tunnels collapsed after a powerful earthquake hit Taiwan. Due to this, at least 80 people are trapped in them. Besides, another 50 people were trapped in four minibuses going from central Hualien City to Toroko National Park.
On Wednesday (April 3) an earthquake of magnitude 7.4 rocked Taiwan. At least 9 people died due to the collapse of some buildings and hills. In addition, around 900 people were injured.

Taiwan’s fire service said 77 people were trapped in the Jinwen and Qingshu tunnels in Hualien County. On the other hand, two German nationals are stuck in the Chongde Tunnel of Tarako National Park.
The 50 people in the minibuses were being taken to Place Tarako Hotel in Silks. They were all hotel staff. These staff were going to the hotel before two local public holidays.
These tunnels are located on the Suhua highway. It runs off the east coast of Taiwan. The beauty of the Pacific Ocean can be enjoyed from the road. It is also dangerous. Because landslides often occur on this road. The hilly road was built by army personnel around 1930.

This road had several tunnels. Some of which are quite large. People are believed to be trapped inside those big tunnels.

It is not yet certain whether all those trapped inside the tunnel are safe or not.
