Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday (March 29) gave the green signal to restart ceasefire talks in Gaza.

Netanyahu gave the go-ahead for renewed talks a day after the world’s top court ordered Israel to ensure aid supplies to civilians in dire conditions in Gaza.

Meanwhile, the fighting in the besieged Gaza intensified despite the recent UN Security Council’s demand for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza said several people were killed in Israeli strikes last night.

Twelve of the dead were from the southern town of Rafah, where Israel is threatening a ground offensive. However, Israel continues to bomb there.

On the other hand, Netanyahu’s office has said that new negotiations regarding the ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages will be held in Doha and Cairo in the coming days.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague said in a ruling that it accepted South Africa’s argument that Israel must do more to address the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza.

The ICJ also said that Palestinians in Gaza are not at risk of famine, they are in famine.

Philip Lazzarini, head of the UN refugee agency for Palestine refugees, said the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza was man-made and getting worse. This judgment is a stark reminder of that.

The United Nations has reported the collapse of Gaza’s health system as Israel-launched raids on several hospitals in Gaza continue. In addition, Israeli forces continue to fight with Hamas in various parts of Gaza.

Netanyahu said fierce fighting was ongoing in northern Gaza and the southern city of Khan Yunus.

It should be noted that on October 7 of last year, the Palestinian organization Hamas launched a sudden major attack on Israel. In retaliation, Israel continued its brutal offensive in Gaza.

The ongoing attacks in Gaza have killed 32,623 Palestinian civilians so far, most of them women and children.
