In previous years, the expatriate income has been booming, but this time the opposite has happened. Remittance flow has decreased.

This information came out in the updated report of Bangladesh Bank on Monday (April 1).

About two billion (1.99 billion) dollars in remittances or expatriate income came in legitimate way in the recent March. In local currency (one dollar is equal to 110 taka), the amount is about 21 thousand 965 crore taka.

Normally, remittance flows increase on the occasion of Eid, but this year, expatriate income has decreased in March, the month before Eid. Those concerned are blaming the illegal channel or hundi as the reason.

Out of this, 26 crore 17 lakh 70 thousand dollars or 2 thousand 879 crore taka came through state-owned banks. Between the two specialized banks, more than 3 crore 52 lakh 7 thousand US dollars or 387 crore rupees came through Krishi Bank.

According to Bangladesh Bank, from March 23 to 29, remittances of 406 million 500 thousand US dollars have arrived in the country.
