The sun has been shining since morning for several days. Since 12 noon, the heat that the sun is giving directly on the head, the paths are getting hot like fire. The heat of burning fire is coming out from the soles of the feet. When riding in a rickshaw or a car, the heat directly hits the face. The people in the entire country, including Dhaka, are in a state of panic. The unbearable heat has had the greatest impact on the lives of the working people.
The country’s highest temperature of 42.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jessore on Saturday (April 20). The district is burning in extreme heat wave. When the body and mind look for shade to get relief from the pressure, the low income people are forced to leave the house for bread and sustenance. Rickshaw and van drivers are lonely in the heat.
Rickshaw driver Idris Ali came from Moghbazar to Rampura via Malibagh railway gate with passengers. He said, life does not go on in such heat. Do not see that the whole body is wet with sweat. Passengers are also very few, people do not leave the house unless it is necessary. What is hot-cold-rain for those who are working people like me? I have to go out every day. I am getting sunburned, my body is sweating, but I still have to pull passengers. Sometimes, if there is no passenger, I hide my body under a tree. If you don’t go to work, the whole family will have to go without food.
