After April 27, Mayor Atiqul Islam has warned of taking legal measures like jail and fines if Aedes mosquito larvae are found in any house or office of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).

On Monday (April 22) morning, Mayor Atiqul Islam officially inaugurated the awareness program in ward number 7 of DNCC in Rupnagar area of Mirpur of the capital. At the same time, this awareness program has been started in 54 wards under DNCC from today. One week after the start of this program, if mosquito larvae are found in the house, jail-fine will be imposed.

Atiqul Islam said, ‘Awareness program has been started to control Aedes mosquito. I request everyone to keep their homes and offices clean. Aedes mosquito larvae live in stagnant clear water. After April 27, if the larvae of Aedes are found in any home-office, jail will be fined.

In the awareness program, Mayor Atiqul Islam said, ‘Houses are painted to beautify. But after painting, empty bottles are left on the roof. Home or office commode is changed and left. Tea cups or packets of chips are thrown everywhere. Rainwater accumulates in these and becomes a breeding ground for Aedes mosquitoes. By explaining these things to us, the councilor can accept the cash from the office.

Mentioning that if the Aedes mosquito is not born, none of the residents of this city will get dengue, he further said, “If we leave them anywhere, the Aedes mosquito will be born and bring us to death.” Because mosquitoes will not recognize anyone. Mosquitoes only know blood. Who is a leader, who is a member of Parliament and who is a member of a league, will not know anything.

Dhaka-14 Constituency Member of Parliament Mainul Hossain Khan, Dhaka North City Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Imrul Kayes Chowdhury, Infectious Disease Specialist Be-Nazir Ahmed, Entomologist Professor Kabirul Bashar, Ward No. 7 Councilor Tofazzal Hossain were present in the awareness program exchange meeting.
