Six people died due to lightning in three districts of Chittagong division. Three people died in two upazilas of Rangamati, two in Pekua of Cox’s Bazar and one in Matiranga of Khagrachari from morning to noon on Thursday (May 2).

Three people died due to lightning in two upazilas of Rangamati hill district. On Thursday (May 2) in the morning of Rangamati city Siletipara and Rupakari Union of Baghaichhari Upazila Muslim block and in the afternoon in the same upazila Sajek Union Ward No. 7 Luinthian neighborhood.

The deceased are Nazeer (50), a resident of Siletipara area of ​​Sadar Upazila, Baharjan Begum (55), wife of Lal Mia of Muslim Block village of Rupakari Union, Ward No. 7 of Baghaichhari Upazila, and Tanibala Tripura (25), sister of Karbari Mithun Tripura of Luinthian Paraybetling Mauza, Ward No. 7 of Sajek Union.

Rangamati General Hospital resident doctor. Shaukat Akbar said that one person was brought to the hospital from Siletipara in the morning. He was killed by lightning.

On the other hand, Baghaichhari upazila executive officer Shirin Akhter said that two people died today due to lightning in Baghaichhari upazila. This is very sad. Financial assistance of 10 thousand taka has been given to each family by the upazila administration. He advised everyone to stay in a safe place during lightning.

Two salt farmers died due to lightning in Pekua Upazila of Cox’s Bazar. The incident took place in Kodailyadia of Magnama union and Charipara area of ​​Rajakhali union of the upazila on Thursday morning.

The deceased are Didarul Islam (35) son of Zamir of Jarulbunia area of ​​Shilkhali union of the upazila and son of Jamal of Charipara area of ​​Rajakhali union. Armaan (25).

Chairman of Magnama Union Parishad Yunus Chowdhury confirmed the matter and said that Didarul Islam died on the spot due to sudden lightning when he went to tend the salt field in Kodailyadia of Magnama.

Rajakhali Union Parishad Chairman Nazrul Islam Sikder said that there was a lot of lightning last night. Thunder continued in the morning. When the salt field was damaged by the night rain, farmer Arman went to take care of it. At that time he died due to lightning.

A schoolboy named Yashin Arafat (13) died due to lightning while picking mangoes in the gusty wind at Matiranga of Khagrachari. The incident took place on Thursday morning in Ibrahim Para of Ward No. 9 of Baranal Union of the upazila.

Yashin Arafat is the son of Yusuf Mia, a resident of Ward No. 9, Ibrahim Para, Baranal Union. He is a seventh standard student of a local school. His father earns a living by renting motorcycles.

It is known that two brothers went to pick raw mangoes next to the yard in the morning in the rain and strong wind. At that time, the younger brother survived the sudden lightning, but the elder brother Yasin Arafat died on the spot.
