In most parts of the country, the heatwave has swept through the month of April. After several consecutive rounds of ‘heat alert’, the capital Dhaka has seen rain on the second day of May.

The Meteorological Office has informed about how the country’s weather can be throughout the month of May.

According to the Meteorological Department, heat, heat wave, low pressure, rain and cyclone are likely throughout the month of May. However, there is relief that the temperature will be slightly lower than in April.

According to the department’s forecast, normal rains may occur throughout the month of May and two severe and one to three mild and moderate heatwaves may occur over some parts of the country. Besides, the temperature may be higher than normal during the day.

A heat alert was also issued due to the severe heat wave throughout the last month of April. Many people in the country have lost their lives due to heat stroke in extreme heat. Such a situation has not happened in the last 76 years, said the Meteorological Office.

Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque told Barta24.com that there is a possibility of rain in Dhaka and its surrounding districts on May 5-6 and also rains may occur across the country on May 6-10. After that, the temperature will increase slightly after May 12th.

According to the Meteorological Department, Kalbaisakhi is likely for three to five days in May. Apart from this, hailstorm with thunder is also possible in different parts of the country.

According to the Met Office, one to two low pressures may develop in the Bay of Bengal in May and a low pressure may develop into a cyclone in the middle of the month.

Apart from this, the river water may increase rapidly in Haor region including Sylhet in the northern or northeastern part of the country this month. The weather office said that it may cross the danger level at some places.
