Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar web series is based on India’s freedom movement during the British Raj. After the release of the web series on OTT, many viewers also gave mixed reactions regarding the authenticity of the depiction of the pre-independence period from the 1920s to the 1940s.

Finally in an interview Sanjay Leela Bhansali gave a answer to the criticism. He said, I try to do everything perfectly whenever I do. I came to the Bollywood industry from such a place, Where I always watched movies in theaters with prostitutes. I try to portray real life events in my movies,Which makes a place in the hearts of the audience. He also said, I am not here to earn money. I am here to make movies and gain many new experiences.

The web series titled Heeramandi depicts the lives of people living in the red-light district of Lahore. Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is a web series starring Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Sharmin Segal.
