This is the first time that Samoa got the opportunity to play in a World Cup in senior or age-based cricket for men and women. Samoa named in 2025 U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup. They qualified to play in the main stage of the World Cup by being the best in the qualifiers from the East Asia-Pacific region.

Samoa girls beat Fiji by 4 wickets in the last qualifying match at the Udayan Cricket Ground in Indonesia. They won the four-team tournament with 10 points from 5 wins in six matches.

Samoa restricted Fiji to 87 runs in the last qualifying match. Later with 34 balls to spare, Avieta Fetu Mapu-led team overcame it. Out of six matches, they only lost the second leg match against Papua New Guinea.

Samoa were somewhat of an underdog in the four-team tournament. Last year’s World Cup match Indonesia and a group of international cricketers made up of Papua New Guinea’s chances were considered high. In the first match, Samoa won by beating Papua New Guinea by 123 runs.

Then they beat Indonesia and Fiji to advance to the World Cup. However, Samoa lost to Papua New Guinea in the first match of the second leg. The country in the Oceania region managed to win the last two matches against Malaysia and Thailand.
