Australia wants to support the economic reform of Bangladesh

Foreign Minister Penny Wong said that Australia wants to support Bangladesh’s economic reforms if necessary. He said this after meeting Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud at Rashtriya Guest House Padma on Tuesday (May 21) afternoon.
Penny Wong said, We want to work together to build a common destiny. We want to promote business in accordance with international law. Bangladesh cannot solve climate change alone. We want to be with you on this journey.

He said, Rohingya crisis is not the only problem of Bangladesh. We want a sustainable solution to this crisis. Bangladesh is still a vocal voice in the world on tackling climate change. Both countries want to increase people-to-people relations. Australia wants to provide technical assistance to ensure maritime security. We want peace and stability in the region.

Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud said that the discussion with the Australian Foreign Minister has been fruitful. We have a wonderful relationship. A smooth 4 billion dollar business basket with Australia over the past 52 years. Although still quite small in size.

The foreign minister said that quota free and duty free access facilities with Australia will continue even after LDC graduation. Investing in our economic zone, Australia will support three technical education institutions. The two countries will work together to reduce human trafficking. We are victims of climate change. Wants to be directly involved in mitigation. Matters like agricultural technology exchange were also discussed with the Australian Foreign Minister. We are in favor of exporting skilled manpower. I want to increase the joint educational programs of the educational institutions of the two countries.
