Allegations of False Representation:
The lawsuit alleges that Netflix falsely portrayed her as a “twice-convicted stalker” who served five years in prison and claims she sexually assaulted Gadd. According to the court documents, these false statements were broadcast to over 50 million viewers.

“Biggest Lie in Television History”:
She further asserts that the show’s opening line, “This is a true story,” is misleading, calling it “the biggest lie in television history.” The lawsuit argues that Netflix prioritized sensational storytelling over the truth for profit.

The plaintiff is seeking significant damages, asserting that the defamation has caused severe harm to her reputation and personal life.
