The court ordered the death penalty and a fine of Tk 50,000 each in the case of strangulation of the driver Laiju Mia after stealing an easy bike in Sarishabari of Jamalpur.
On Sunday (June 9) at noon, Additional District and Sessions Judge-2 Judge Muha. Anwar Chadat announced the verdict.
The accused who were sentenced to death are: Sarishabari upazila resident Md. Moni Taheri, Md. Rubel Mia, Md. Zakir Hossain and Sohag. Sohag and Md are absconding. Zakir Hossain.
The lawyer for the state said that after stealing an easy bike in Sarishabari on October 1, 2016, the accused strangled the driver Laiju Mia to death. In this incident, the father of the victim filed a murder case at the Sarishabari police station and the police arrested Rubel Mia and Moni Taher on suspicion. Later the accused gave a confessional statement under section 164.
The lawyer for the state. Shafiqul Islam Akkas said, the court announced this verdict after the testimony of 17 witnesses in the case. The verdict was given in the presence of two death row convicts. The other two are absconding after being released on bail.
