The net reserve of foreign currency in the country is more than 16 billion dollars, Bangladesh Bank said. Which exceeded the target of 14.7 billion dollars set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the month of June.
The central bank confirmed this information on Tuesday (July 2).
Spokesperson of the Central Bank. Majbaul Haque said that as of June 30 of this year, Bangladesh’s net international reserves or expendable reserves have reached 16 billion dollars.
Earlier, Bangladesh’s reserves reached $48 billion in August 2021. At the end of the fiscal year 2023-24, the reserves stood at $26.82 billion as on June 30. According to the IMF’s BPM-6 accounting system, the reserves now stand at $21.84 billion.
Besides, another account of Bangladesh Bank’s net or actual reserves is provided only to the IMF and is not made public.
The central bank has officially announced that the reserves have increased after receiving loan assistance.
