3 people have been arrested for their alleged involvement with the Kuki Chin National Front (KNF) in joint operations in Bandarban’s Ruma and Thanchi bank robberies, attacks on mosques, looting of money and weapons.

The arrested Kuki Chin National Front (KNF) members are Bhal Lal Boss Bum (30), Lal Moon Lyon Bum (42) and Jabel Bum (23). All of them are residents of Ward No. 9 of Simlampi Para of Sadar Union of Thanchi Upazila.

On Saturday (July 27) afternoon, the arrested accused were brought to the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Bandarban Sadar in a prison van under strict police security. After the hearing, the judge of the court, Senior Judicial Magistrate Syeda Suraiya Akhtar ordered to send the accused to jail.

Earlier on Friday (July 26) they were arrested in a joint force operation from Ward No. 9 of Simlampi Para of Sadar Union of Thanchi Upazila.

Confirming the truth of the incident, Bandarban Chief Judicial Court GRO Biswajit Singh said that 3 people arrested in the case of KNF bank robbery-arms robbery filed at Thanchi Police Station were produced in the court. After listening to the statements of both parties, the court ordered the accused to be sent to jail.

So far a total of 118 people including 118 KNF members and a Chand car driver have been sent to jail. 25 of them are women. A total of 17 KNF personnel were killed while attacking the joint force patrol.
