Four more judges of the Appellate Division resigned after Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan in the face of students’ agitation.

Supreme Court Registrar General Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan confirmed the matter on Saturday (August 10) afternoon.

He said, they have sent the resignation letter to the President through the Ministry of Law. They said they resigned voluntarily citing personal reasons.

He further said, I have sent the resignation letter to the Law Ministry to take the necessary decision. They voluntarily resigned from their duties.

The two judges who resigned are, Justice M Inayetur Rahim, Justice Abu Zafar Siddiqui, Justice Md. Shahinur Islam and Justice Kashefa Hossain.

Earlier, the agitators protested in front of the extended building of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court from 10:30 am today, demanding the resignation of seven judges of the Appellate Division, including the Chief Justice. Around 1:30 p.m., it was learned that the Chief Justice has taken a policy decision to resign. The protesters left the High Court area around 2 pm.
