Salvatore Scillacci, the top scorer of the 1990 World Cup and Italian legendary footballer, was suffering from cancer since 2022. This star footballer, who won several times in the fight on the field, lost to this deadly disease. He breathed his last today (Wednesday) at the age of 59.

Juventus club confirmed Scillacci’s death in a post on social media. In a statement they said: ‘At Juventus we were fortunate to be moved by his game, as he did the same with the whole of Italy in that incredible summer of 1990. Bye Toto, thank you.’

According to several Italian media sources, he died in the country’s Palermo hospital. He was basically suffering from colon cancer.

He was better known as Toto than Squillaci. In 1990, he suddenly came into the lime light. In addition to the maximum 6 goals in that World Cup at home, he scored an assist. He won both the Golden Boot and the Golden Ball.
