Australia picked up their second consecutive win in the five-match ODI series. Ajira defeated the host England by 68 runs in the second ODI. With this victory, the world champions have tasted 14 consecutive victories in ODI cricket. With this win, the visitors now lead the series 2-0.
Australia lost the toss in Leeds on Saturday (September 21) and lost 3 wickets before 100 runs. Captain Mitchell Marsh and Marnus Labuchen kept the team in the fight by making a pair of 56 runs for the fourth wicket. Labuschenne returned with 19 runs, but Marsh picked up his fifty. He scored 60 runs off 59 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes.
After Glenn Maxwell was dismissed for 7 runs, Australia’s wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey turned the wheel of runs. Carey added 49 runs from 49 balls with Aaron Hardy for the seventh wicket and 55 from 47 balls and Josh Hazlewood for the last wicket. Australia got a fighting collection due to the welfare of these two pairs. Aussies were bundled out for 270 with 32 balls to spare.

England came under pressure after losing 5 wickets for 65 runs to play the target of 271 runs. Jamie Smith and Jacob Bethel relieved the pressure of the English with a pair of 55 runs in the sixth wicket.
However, spinner Maxwell broke the pair by dismissing Bethel for the team’s 120 runs. England were all out for 202 runs in 2 balls after 40 overs after Smith was dismissed as the seventh batsman. Smith scored 49 runs off 61 balls. Mitchell Starc took 3 wickets for Australia.
