University authorities have decided to stop all political activities of teachers-students, officials-employees in the Dhaka University (DU) campus until further instructions.

The decision was taken at an emergency syndicate meeting held at the Vice-Chancellor’s Lounge in the university’s administrative building on Thursday (September 19) night.

University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan confirmed this information to Jago News at night.

He said, we had a meeting for one and a half hours. It was decided to suspend political activities in the campus till further orders with the consent of all the members present in the emergency syndicate meeting. This instruction will be officially communicated to everyone. Hope everyone will cooperate with the administration in establishing peace and order in the campus.

Meanwhile, anti-discrimination student movement welcomed the decision to ban politics in DU. Sargis Alam, one of the coordinators of the organization, wrote in a post given on his verified Facebook page, the decision to stop all forms of politics in Dhaka University.
