Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League AFM Bahauddin Nashim said that the development project of upgrading Dhaka Medical College Hospital to 5 thousand beds will be emphasized.

Apart from this, the Dhaka Medical College Hospital Managing Committee is working on various issues including recruitment to vacant posts in the hospital, creation of new posts, eviction of hawkers at the main entrance of the hospital, adequate budget allocation for the hospital, provision of vehicles for transportation of health workers.

He said, the signs and sincerity of Bangabandhu’s daughter’s desire, effort, devotion, honesty and love to keep the people of Bangladesh good are rare. If we all can change it little by little by looking at it, then the welfare of the people of the country will be achieved through that change.

He said these things in the president’s speech at Dhaka Medical College Hospital Managing Committee meeting on Thursday (May 16) morning.

Nashim said, we want every person to get treatment. We don’t want a single person to die without treatment. It was the dream of the father of the nation. He made Bangladesh independent to eliminate discrimination, reduce human poverty and ensure medical care and meet people’s needs. We want to build the golden Bangladesh of the father of the nation’s dream. His privileged daughter Deshratna Sheikh Hasina is spending the best hours of her life to keep the people of the country well.

This member of parliament from Dhaka-8 constituency said that Dhaka Medical College Hospital is a place of trust for all people of Bangladesh to receive treatment. A patient who does not get treatment anywhere in Bangladesh never returns from Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Doctors, nurses, officers and employees of Dhaka Medical College Hospital work for the people within their capacity. However, so that the patients get better health care, everyone related to treatment, including doctors and nurses, must be more diligent.

He said, in 1946 Dhaka Medical College Hospital started operations with 250 beds. In 1973, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman upgraded Dhaka Medical College Hospital to 1,500 beds and in 2013, Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina upgraded Dhaka Medical College Hospital to 2,600 beds.

Currently Dhaka Medical College Hospital has 120 ICU beds. So that it can provide more advanced and comprehensive medical services, the current government under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter is continuing the activities.

Bahauddin Nashim while talking to the journalists present at the end of the meeting said that there will be no broker circle centered on Dhaka Medical College Hospital. They will be eliminated with the help of law enforcement agencies. In order not to have any ambulance syndicate in the premises of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the ambulance will transport patients at a fixed fare based on the needs of the patient through one stop service.
