Former Minister Shajahan Khan in 7 days remand

Awami League presidium member and former shipping minister Shajahan Khan has been remanded for 7 days by the court.

The police applied for his 10-day remand in the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court on Friday (September 6) afternoon. At the end of the hearing, the judge granted his seven-day remand.

Earlier, yesterday (September 6) night, he was arrested in the capital’s Dhanmondi police station in the case of Kishore Motaleb’s murder.

It should be noted that on August 4, a teenager named Motaleb was shot dead in Zhigatala bus stand area. On August 27, his father Abdul Matin filed a murder case at Dhanmondi Police Station as the plaintiff. In addition to the prime accused, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Roads and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader and Shahjahan Khan, 176 people were named in the statement.

Shajahan Khan was elected Member of Parliament from Madaripur-2 Constituency (a part of Rajair-Madaripur Sadar) in the 12th National Parliament Elections with the boat symbol. This was his eighth consecutive election as a Member of Parliament from the constituency.

Currently, Shajahan Khan is the presidium member of Bangladesh Awami League and the working president of Bangladesh Sramik Federation.
