Four European countries, Ireland, Malta, Slovenia and Spain, have agreed to recognize Palestine as an independent state.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez expressed hope that the recognition would come within the four-year term of his government, which began last year.

After the meeting, Ireland said in a joint statement, “We agree that the only way to achieve lasting peace and stability is to implement a two-state solution.” Only then can Israel and the Palestinians live side by side in peace and security.’

Since 1988, 139 of the 193 member states of the United Nations have recognized Palestine as a state.

Earlier, Eastern European countries Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Romania and Slovakia recognized Palestine as an independent state, but it was not fully implemented. Currently, only ten of the 27 EU member states recognize Palestine as an independent state.

It should be noted that the war between Hamas and Israel has been going on since October 7. A cease-fire was prepared several times, but in the end it did not see the light of hope.

Now 32 thousand 142 Palestinians of Palestine have been killed in this war. At least 74 thousand 412 people were injured. On the other hand, 1,139 citizens of Israel were killed.
