45 people were killed in the last 24 hours due to heavy rains, flash floods and landslides in the northern Chinese province of Hunan. And at least 35 people are still missing, the country’s state news agency Xinhua reported.

Many areas have been affected by the heavy rains triggered by Typhoon Gayemi. The flash flood occurred after a record rainfall of 645 mm in just 24 hours. Rescue operations have started in various areas from Thursday. The report said that more than 11 thousand people have been evacuated to safe places so far.

A record 645 millimeters of rain fell in the 24-hour period from Wednesday night to Thursday night in Hunan’s Zhejiang district, officials from the Central Meteorological Bureau said. As it is a mountainous region, hardka buns have appeared in various regions of Zhejiang. Most of the missing were swept away in those boats.

According to the CCTV report, 30 people have been killed in Zhejiang in the last 24 hours of natural disasters. Besides, 15 more people were killed in other areas of the province.
In this situation, Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang assured Hunan provincial government in a message to provide all assistance to deal with this crisis.
