On the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, the central bank has released new notes in the market through the scheduled banks.

From Sunday (March 31), 80 branches of different banks have started exchanging new notes. Common people can exchange new notes till April 9 (excluding weekends and public holidays). Earlier, Bangladesh Bank had given this information on March 20.

Since the beginning of bank transactions on Sunday, customers have been standing in long queues to get new notes at designated bank branches in various areas including Motijheel.

Recently, the Department of Communication and Publication (DCP) of Bangladesh Bank has informed in a circular that the central bank will exchange new notes up to the denomination of 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 taka in a special system through the counters of various branches including the head office of Bangladesh Bank.

Customers can also collect new notes through 80 branches of various Scheduled Banks in Dhaka region except on weekends and public holidays. Besides, the central bank also said that the same person cannot take new notes more than once.
