A top UN envoy to the Middle East says there is ‘no more time to waste’ on brokering a ceasefire and prisoner exchange in Gaza!

Wensland, the United Nations High Representative for the Middle East, made this comment on Sunday (August 25) in a post on the microblogging site X (formerly Twitter) in view of the fierce war between Hezbollah and Israel crossing the ‘blue line’ that divides southern Lebanon and Israel. This statement of Waynesland was published on the website of the United Nations.
Waynesland said, I met with the Prime Minister of Palestine, Mohammed Mustafa. We strongly feel that there is no time to waste on a cease-fire and a prisoner exchange in Gaza as Hezbollah and Israel become embroiled in an intensifying war.

Meanwhile, UN Secretary General António Guterres expressed deep concern as the war between the two sides intensified in a statement.

He said that the war between them has threatened regional security and stability. He called for an immediate de-escalation of the tension.

Meanwhile, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, the United States, Egypt and Qatar continue to negotiate a cease-fire and prisoner exchange in Gaza. For this reason, it has been reported that Hamas has agreed to send a representative to find out the progress of the talks at the end of this week.

According to reports, the focus of the mediation now is on Israel’s troop presence in the Philadelphia Corridor, which borders Gaza and Egypt. Any agreement on this matter would save the lives of ordinary people.

We need a cease-fire and exchange of all prisoners now, said Wensland X’s message. There is no more time to waste.
