Three more European countries have officially recognized Palestine as a state to establish peace in the Middle East. Norway, Spain and Ireland gave this recognition on Tuesday (May 28) afternoon.

Qatar-based media Aljazeera reported this information.

According to the report, last Wednesday the top leaders of Norway, Spain and Ireland announced separately that their recognition of Palestine will be effective from May 28. They also called on more countries to join the declaration.

Arab leaders welcomed such recognition of Palestine. Palestinians are expressing joy. However, Israel strongly reacted by condemning this move. They announced the immediate withdrawal of ambassadors from those countries.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gor Storr then told a press conference that a two-state solution is good for Israel’s interests. At this time, he said, “Norway will officially recognize Palestine on May 28. If the Palestinian state is not recognized, there will never be peace in the Middle East.”

Shortly after Norway’s announcement, Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris told a news conference that his country would soon recognize Palestine. He said, ‘Today (Wednesday) Ireland, Norway and Spain are announcing that we recognize the State of Palestine. These countries will take necessary national steps to implement this decision.

At that time he said, “I am confident that other countries will also follow our path and take necessary steps.”

Then the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, also said in a press conference that his country’s cabinet will recognize Palestine as an independent state on May 28. Sánchez has been pushing for Palestinian recognition since the start of the Israeli occupation of Gaza.

After the official announcement of these three countries, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz announced the withdrawal of ambassadors from Ireland and Norway in opposition to the decision of Norway, Ireland and Spain.

Tel Aviv has been waging an invasion of Palestine for seven months following the October 7 attack by Hamas on Israel. Millions of people have become refugees. There is a risk of famine.

More than 140 countries have already recognized Palestine, i.e. two-thirds of the UN members. However, the western dominant countries have not yet followed this policy. Now it will put some pressure on France and Germany. The United States and the United Kingdom also support Israel’s proposal for an independent Palestine. In this case, their demand is that Palestine must come to an agreement with Israel first.
