Selena Gomez will portray and produce a new biographical film on Tejano legend Selena Quintanilla, three decades after the singer’s death. The project is in development at Warner Bros., with filming planned for mid-2026. Gomez said the story “deserves another generation’s retelling through empathy and music.”

The film aims to blend concert recreations with dramatic retelling of the artist’s rise and tragedy. Cultural historians say Gomez’s casting bridges generations of Latinx representation in Hollywood. Music supervisors will use remastered original vocals to preserve authenticity.
