Somali pirates have released the hijacked Bangladeshi cargo ship MV Abdullah and its 23 crew members after holding them hostage for 32 days. Shahriar Jahan Rahat, Deputy Managing Director of KSRM Company, the owner of the ship, said this.

He confirmed to the media about the latest developments, saying that the ship and crew have been released after successful completion of negotiations with the pirates.

He said the 23 crew on board are safe and have been able to contact their relatives. They are all healthy.

On March 12, a group of Somali pirates hijacked a Bangladeshi-flagged vessel owned by KSRM Group. At the time, the vessel was carrying coal from Maputo, Mozambique to Al Hamria, United Arab Emirates.

After the sailors released the ship, it proceeded to the UAE port to discharge the cargo.

The ship can reach the UAE port within a week.
