The labor market in Malaysia will not stop sending manpower

State Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury said that sending manpower to the Malaysian labor market will not stop.

He said, the government is working to get the quota again. We have contacted Malaysia. Malaysia’s labor market will not close. Malaysia’s labor market will remain open and open.

He said these things in response to reporters’ questions at the end of the send-off program for workers going to Malaysia at the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment on Thursday (May 16).

He said, under the current quota, the Malaysian government has imposed an obligation to enter Malaysia by May 31 from 14 worker-sending countries, including Bangladesh. The government is working to send workers to Malaysia according to the quota within the stipulated time.

Stating that the work is going on with the goal of sending all the workers to Malaysia according to the quota by May 31, the State Minister said, “We have sent a letter requesting to extend the time to send the workers to Malaysia. But if they don’t extend the time based on our request, it won’t be a problem. Because we are working towards May 31.

He said, we are trying to send all quota workers by 31st. All the workers remaining in the quota are in the process of going to Malaysia.

In the meeting, the secretary of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment. Ruhul Amin, Managing Director of Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOSEL) Dr. Mallik Anwar Hossain, Director General of Wage Earners Welfare Board. Hamidur Rahman, Managing Director of Pravasi Kalyan Bank. Mojibur Rahman and others were present.

It was informed in the meeting that from October 2022, the government has started sending workers to Malaysia through Bocell at no cost. So far 1 thousand 308 workers have been sent by Boesel. Today another 73 workers will move to United Plantation (UP), one of the largest plantation companies in Malaysia, in Berha. Selected personnel are traveling to Malaysia through Bocell completely free of cost.
