Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over the award to 10 distinguished persons who were awarded the Independence Award for their glorious and successful contribution at the national level.
The Freedom Award-2024 award ceremony was organized at Osmani Smriti Auditorium in the capital on Monday (March 25). He presented the award there.
This time three people got the award in the field of ‘Freedom and Liberation War’, one in the field of ‘Science and Technology’ and one in Medicine. Apart from this, one in culture, one in sports and three in social service were awarded the highest state award.

Freedom awardees are- Kazi Abdus Sattar in the ‘Freedom and Liberation War’ category, Freedom Fighter Flight Sergeant Md. Fazlul Haque (posthumous) and brave freedom fighter Shaheed Abu Naeem. Najib Uddin Khan (Khurram) (posthumous). Dr. Science and technology category. Mubarak Ahmad Khan, Dr. in medicine. Harishankar Das. Mohammad Rafiquzzaman in Culture and Feroza Khatun in Sports. Aranya Chiran, brave freedom fighter professor Dr. Mullah Obaidullah Baki and SM Abraham Lincoln.

It is the highest state award in the country. The government has been giving this award every year since 1977 on the occasion of Independence Day on March 26. In the case of the Freedom Award, the awardee is given Tk 5 lakh, a 50 gram gold medal of eighteen carat quality, a replica of the medal and a citation.

Earlier on Friday (March 15) a notification was issued by the Cabinet Department to give Freedom Award to 10 eminent persons in 2024 for their glorious and meritorious contribution at the national level.
