Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief to publish a report on the damage caused by Cyclone Rimal by next Sunday. He also directed all government officials to stand by the people affected by the cyclone in addition to their routine work.
The prime minister said these while presiding over the National Economic Council Executive Committee (ECNEC) meeting at NEC auditorium in the capital on Tuesday (May 28).
Planning Minister Abdus Salam and Planning Department Senior Secretary Satyajit Karmakar after the meeting released this copy of the decision issued by the Prime Minister from Ecnec.
Commenting that many dams have been damaged due to remel, the Planning Minister said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered to repair them quickly. Moreover, the Prime Minister has ordered to supply fresh water to the affected areas as soon as possible, the minister said.
Satyajit Karmakar said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina monitored the disaster till 2 pm to reduce the damage caused by Cyclone Rimal and to keep the people of coastal areas safe. He himself monitored the situation by contacting the concerned area on landline phone and communicated with everyone.
