On Sunday, September 29, 2024, G.M. Quader, Chairman of the Jatiya Party, emphasized the critical role of the youth in shaping Bangladesh’s future. He stated that the young generation, aged 18 to 35 and making up around 40 million voters, holds the key to the country’s political destiny.

Addressing a meeting with Jatiya Tarun Party members, Quader highlighted the bravery of the country’s youth in standing up against authoritarian forces. He remarked, “The monstrous power of tyranny crumbles like straw before the courage of our youth,” referring to their efforts in previous movements. He commended the students for sacrificing their lives to defeat tyranny and emphasized the need for a new political direction to attract young voters.

Jatiya Party’s Support for the Anti-Discrimination Movement

Quader proudly pointed out his party’s unwavering support for the 2024 student-led anti-discrimination movement, which began on July 1. He recalled addressing the Parliament on July 3, urging the government to listen to the students’ justified demands and criticizing the quota system as unconstitutional.

He also mentioned that Jatiya Party leaders had joined protests and faced arrests in Rangpur. Despite challenges, Quader said that his party will continue to stand by the students in their fight for equality and justice.
