In the meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), 10 projects worth Tk 5,500 crore have been approved. ECNEC meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the NEC conference room in Sherebangla Nagar of the capital on Thursday (May 9). It approves the projects.
At the end of the meeting, Planning Minister Abdus Salam said that the meeting approved 10 projects including the establishment of Sheikh Hasina Medical University in Khulna and the establishment of a burn unit in Chittagong.
The total cost of 10 projects has been estimated at 5 thousand 563 crores. Out of this, 5 thousand 203 crore rupees will be available from government funds and 360 crore 47 lakh rupees from foreign loans.
Regarding the Prime Minister’s order, the Planning Minister said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed the concerned parties not to take up projects using her own name. Besides, the Prime Minister has instructed the Ministry of Finance to take necessary measures to list the state-owned commercial enterprises in the capital market, said the Planning Minister.
Industry Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun at Eknek meeting; Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. Tajul Islam; Minister of Housing and Public Works. A. M, Ubaidul Muktadir Chowdhury; Land Minister Narayan Chandra Chand, Agriculture Minister. Abdus Shaheed; Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Samant Lal Sen, Youth and Sports Minister Nazmul Hasan and Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury along with concerned ministers and state ministers participated in the meeting.
Besides, Cabinet Secretary, Chief Coordinator of SDG, Planning Commission members, Senior Secretaries and Secretaries of concerned ministries and senior officers were present in the meeting.
