Xinhua reported that 15 people were killed and 30 injured in an Israeli attack on Palestinians on their way home in the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip.
Palestinian state news agency Wafa confirmed Saturday’s (May 18) attack and casualties.
Israeli warplanes also fired missiles at residential houses and a shelter in the Jabalia camp for Palestinian refugees in Gaza, Palestinian security sources told Xinhua.
The missile attack reportedly caused a large explosion at the Jabalia camp. Ambulance and fire service personnel reached the spot after the attack.
It should be noted that Israel has been conducting military operations in this Jabalia camp for several days.
Meanwhile, 13 allied countries have sent a joint letter calling on Israel to stop the Israeli aggression in Gaza’s Rafah. The countries’ foreign ministers signed a five-page letter and handed it over to Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz, who also made the letter public.
We reiterate our opposition to a full-scale military operation in Rafah, which could have catastrophic consequences for the civilian population, the letter said.
The countries that signed the letter are Australia, United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea and the European Union member states Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Sweden.
