Two persons including singer Ahsan Tanveer Piyal were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a microbus at Panchdona in Narsingdi. 3 more passengers of the microbus were injured in the incident.
The accident took place on the road in front of Dream Holiday Park in Panchdona in the early hours of Saturday (May 11).
The deceased are – microbus driver Salam (43) and passenger Ahsan Tanveer Piyal (26). Ahsan Tanveer Piyal was the vocalist of the song ‘Deh Bashe Kew Kendo Na, Kaguwale Rekho Akhena’ and one of the members of the ‘Odd Signature’ music band.
The injured are – Akib (26) son of Aftab Uddin of Mohakhali area of Dhaka, Sakib (26) son of Khorshed Alam of Sylhet Habiganj area and Amit (27) son of Anup of Pathar Ghata area of Chittagong. They are all passengers of the microbus.
The police and locals said that a microbus that had left Dhaka for Sylhet early today arrived in front of the Dream Holiday Park in Chaitab area of Narsingdi at around 5 am when it collided head-on with the bus of Hanif Paribahan. This causes the microbus to twist. The microbus driver Salam and a passenger named Payal were killed on the spot. At this time, 3 other passengers in the microbus were injured. Later, the locals rescued the injured and took them to Narsingdi District Hospital. After first aid, they went home. After the accident, the passenger bus was mistakenly detained by the highway police.
Station Officer of Madhavadi Fire Service Khairul Alam confirmed the truth of the incident and said, we reached the spot after receiving the information and recovered the bodies of two people and handed them over to Madhavadi Police Station. 3 more passengers were injured in this incident. However, before we reached the spot, the injured were admitted to the nearby hospital by the locals.
Itakhola Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ilyach Ahmed said, after receiving the information, the bodies of two people were recovered and sent to the hospital morgue.
