State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak said that more than two million youth jobs have been created in the ICT sector. As a result, despite being established as a new export sector, ICT is getting export income of 1.9 billion dollars.
He said this on Sunday (March 17) during the inauguration ceremony of the sub-post office at Bhasanchar.
The state minister said that the people of Bangladesh are enjoying the benefits of the successful implementation of the Digital Bangladesh vision. In a situation where the whole world came to a standstill during the Corona pandemic, with the help of internet and technology, we have been able to conduct all activities including education, health, law and commerce normally.
He said, March is a unique historical month in our national life. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born in this month. In his historic speech on March 7, 1971, the Father of the Nation said, “We cannot keep our demands”. With the indomitable passion of the father of the nation, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has elevated Bangladesh to a middle-income technology-dependent digital Bangladesh. He gave us a new vision of building a smart Bangladesh by 2041.
Palak said that although many imagined it impossible, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s ‘Bhasanchar’ project has become habitable for people today. Also becoming commercially and economically viable. 37,000 refugees in Bhasanchar are engaged in various handicrafts and vegetable and fish farming besides making themselves skilled. With the aim that all the products produced in Bhasanchar can be delivered all over the country and the people of Bhasanchar can be brought under modern banking, courier and e-commerce services, the journey of ‘Bhasanchar Sub-Post Office’ has started as a smart service delivery point in Bhasanchar from today.
