Dhaka’s Law Enforcement Triumphs in Major Gang Roundup
In a sweeping crackdown from March 11 to 18, Dhaka’s Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-2) has successfully apprehended 35 members of notorious teen gangs, including their ringleaders, across significant regions such as Mohammadpur, Adabar, Nakhalpara, and Tejgaon. This operation signifies a crucial advancement in combating urban crime within the city.
RAB-2’s Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police, Shihab Karim, disclosed the operation’s success today, listing notable arrests including Md. Akash, Md. Farid, and Md. Imam Hossain. The enforcement efforts targeted leaders from infamous gangs like the FDC Munna and King Jamal Group, showcasing a determined initiative to dismantle the criminal networks plaguing Dhaka.
The Underlying Menace: Teen Gangs’ Reign of Terror
The crackdown addresses the escalating issues of robbery, mugging, and extortion attributed to teen gangs. The operation’s success in capturing key figures, including the leaders of the King Mosharraf and Apna Bhai Groups, and seizing their weapons, highlights the urgent need to address the violence, territory clashes, and extortion schemes orchestrated by these groups.
The arrested individuals, who blended into society with normal professions, have now been moved to various police stations for further legal action, marking the start of an extensive legal battle to ensure justice and restore peace in Dhaka’s communities.
