Train services have resumed under Western Railway. But the number of passengers was less on the first day itself.

37 short distance mail trains from different districts have started running since Tuesday (August 13) morning. It has been informed that the intercity train will start from August 15.

According to Western Railway sources, train movement was stopped across the country from the day of the ‘Complete Shutdown’ program on July 18. Then on July 25, when the curfew was relaxed, the Western Railway authorities announced the operation of short-distance trains. However, even on that day, the train did not start running. Since then the train has stopped running. Finally, after 26 days, train movement started in the western region through 37 trains under the direction of the ministry.

There are 43 mail trains in Western Region. However, six trains could not run on the first day. It is reported that the train will be fully operational from Wednesday (August 14).

Sujan Ali, a passenger from Rajshahi to Rahanpur in Chapainawabganj, said that after a long time, he got an opportunity to travel by train and felt that there was no alternative to train to go safely. It has become very convenient for them as the trains are running.

Siddiqur Rahman was returning home in the same train. He said that for several days he had been hearing that the train would start, so he was waiting to go home safely. He is going home as the train has started.

General Manager (Acting) of Western Railway Ahmed Hossain Masum said that out of their 43 mail trains, all except six have started from today. He also said that all trains will start from tomorrow. On the orders of the ministry, inter-city trains will start from Thursday and ticket sales for these trains have also started.

Regarding the safety of the passengers, he said that all measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the passengers, which will include Ansar, NBR, and railway line security.
