Eight people, including three from the same family, were killed in a separate road accident in Mymensingh. The incident took place in Sadar, Trishal and Tarakanda upazila areas on Tuesday (April 9) at noon.
Kotwali Model Police Station OC (Investigation) Anwar Hossain said that the Mahendra car hit the back of the Tangail-bound bus in Langrabazar area on the Mymensingh-Tangail highway. Three passengers from the same family died on the spot. 7 more people were injured in this incident.
The deceased are Lutfar Rahman (30), his wife Shahnaz (25) and son Mahit (2). Child Mahit and parents died at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital on the spot. Another of their children Mojahid (6) is hospitalized with injuries.
The deceased are residents of Dighirpar area of Jhenaigati upazila of Sherpur district. Both husband and wife worked in a garment in Masterbari area of Bhaluka. They were returning home on Eid vacation.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Trishal Police Station Kamal Hossain said that two passengers of an autorickshaw standing on Balipara Road in Trishal were hit by a bus in the afternoon. Two passengers of the pick-up were killed by a Mymensingh-bound bus while taking Uturn in a pick-up on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Darirampur area of the municipal area of the same upazila.
Also, one person died in an accident on Dhobaura road in Tarakanda upazila, police said.
