In a significant boost to agriculture in Jamalpur, the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has announced an incentive program for 3,400 small and marginal farmers to enhance Aush paddy cultivation during the forthcoming Kharip season-1.

Starting from March 16, the initiative aims to distribute essential farming inputs across all seven upazilas in the district, with each participating farmer receiving a comprehensive support package. This package includes five kilograms of high-yielding Aush paddy seeds, alongside 10 kilograms each of Di Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and Muriate of Potash (MOP) fertilizers, at no cost. The initiative is designed to cover the cultivation needs of one bigha of land per farmer.

The distribution effort will see the Agriculture Department providing 1,700 kilograms of the Aush paddy seed, while the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) will contribute the remaining 15,300 kilograms. This concerted effort underscores a commitment to bolstering food security and empowering small-scale farmers in Jamalpur by improving the productivity and sustainability of local agriculture.
