The Bangladesh Army is fully prepared to take any necessary action to protect communal harmony across the country, said Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman on Sunday. Emphasizing unity and peace, he reaffirmed the army’s commitment to maintaining a harmonious social fabric.
Commitment to Peace and Unity
Speaking at a foundation-laying ceremony of the “Shompriti Bhaban” (Harmony Building) at the International Buddhist Monastery in Merul Badda, Dhaka, the army chief highlighted the importance of peaceful coexistence among communities. “This country belongs to all of us. We want to live together with respect and harmony,” he said.
Prepared for Any Situation
General Waker-Uz-Zaman assured that the army is ready to do everything within its mandate to prevent violence and maintain peace, especially in sensitive regions like the Chittagong Hill Tracts. “We do not want hatred or division,” he added.
Joint Vigilance During Pohela Boishakh
The statement came amid heightened security efforts ahead of Pohela Boishakh, with various agencies, including RAB, monitoring cyber activity to ensure communal peace during the celebrations.
