The High Court of Bangladesh has temporarily suspended a government directive to keep primary and secondary schools operational during the holy month of Ramadan. This decision comes after a bench, comprising Justice KM Kamrul Kader and Justice Khizir Hayat, conducted a preliminary hearing on a writ petition challenging the government’s decision.
The court’s interim order will halt the operation of primary schools for ten days and secondary schools for fifteen days during Ramadan. Furthermore, the High Court has issued a rule asking for explanations behind the government’s decision to keep educational institutions open during this period.
Senior advocate AKM Foyej, who presented the petition in court, confirmed the court’s orders. This judicial intervention highlights the importance of observing religious practices and the impact of such observances on educational scheduling in Bangladesh.
