India-Bangladesh relations and the relationship with the present government will not be affected by the BJP-led coalition government. Bangladesh will enjoy the same, if not better, relationship under this Indian government, said Veena Sikri, the senior diplomat and a former Indian high commissioner in Bangladesh.

Indeed, the BJP didn’t secure a single majority in the parliament, but the number of seats the BJP won in this election is more than any other party has won in the last twenty years. So, the people’s mandate favors the BJP and its leader, Narendra Modi.

Thus, Modi is not only the leader of the BJP but also the coalition leader. That’s why Modi’s “neighbors first” policy will not be hampered. Besides, Indian foreign policy always maintains a realistic ground.

She said India always believes in people-to-people connections and close bonds between the people of the two countries. India invited all her neighbors, including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bhutan, to the oath ceremony.

This government will continue to maintain its relationship with the people of neighboring countries. However, one of the closest neighbors is currently in trouble. The good news is that America has changed its policy and is also a close ally of India, which is significant for this region.

All the Indian neighbors understand this, so the future days will be good for India and its neighbors with Modi’s “neighbors first” policy.
