Bangladesh-Zimbabwe match closed due to rain

Rain was forecast in Chittagong at eight o’clock in the night. As predicted, the rain appeared shortly after 8pm. The first T20 game of the five-match series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe is now closed.

Before the rain, Bangladesh scored 10 runs for 1 wicket in 3 overs before going to bat against the target of 125 runs given by Zimbabwe. Liton Das failed once again with the bat in the national team. 1 run off 3 balls, Blessing Mujarabani bowled back.

Tanjid Hasan Tamim (3*) and captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto (4*) are at the crease when play is stopped in rain.

Earlier, after losing the toss and batting, Taskin-Saifuddin scored 124 runs in 20 overs. Taskin took 3 wickets for 14 runs. Poren Saifuddin also took 3 wickets with one run more.

Zimbabwe, who lost 7 wickets for 41 runs in a batting collapse, collected a hundred in the eighth wicket in the fighting pair of Clive Madande and Wellington Masakadza. The visitors got a respectable score with their pair of 75 runs. The highest 43 runs for the team came with the bat of wicketkeeper-batter Madand.

According to ICC rules, both teams must bat at least five overs for any T20 match to be settled. Since Bangladesh managed to bat a total of 3 overs before the start of rain, the match will be abandoned if play is not resumed in rain.
